His artistic journey began at Warri Secondary School, where he developed an interest in wood carving. He later attended Auchi Polytechnic, receiving an Ordinary National Diploma in 1976, and the Principal’s prize for overall best student. Reuben Ugbine furthered his education at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, earning a Higher National Diplom in Sculpture in 1979.
Reuben Ugbine career spanned multiple roles, including instructor, cultural officer, and lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic from 1976 to 1987. He also worked as a freelance artist, establishing Creative Hands in Benin City in 1990 His artwork gained international recognition, featuring in solo and group exhibitions in Nigeria, Lebanon, Germany, Netherlands, South Africa, Ghana, and London.
